OTTAWA, Dec. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today released the following statement concerning an accident involving a West Wind Aviation aircraft in the vicinity of Fond-du-Lac, Saskatchewan:
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to convey that our thoughts and hearts are with those affected by this accident, and our appreciation for the efforts of local first responders.
"The Government of Canada is coordinating the activity of Transport Canada, Department of National Defence, and the RCMP in responding to this accident.
"We will cooperate fully with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada's investigation into this accident. Transport Canada is appointing a Minister's Observer who will keep me informed of the investigation's progress.
"Safety is Transport Canada's top priority. We will continue to work with the Transportation Safety Board to do all we can to maintain and enhance the safety of Canada's air sector."
