QUÉBEC, Sept. 20, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The 8th New York Climate Week will run until September 25 and the Minister of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, David Heurtel, will be participating. Organized by the Climate Group, the event brings together heads of government, business executives and members of civil society, who meet to discuss issues related to climate change and the green economy.
The Minister's schedule includes participation in high-level events dealing with the fight against climate change and various carbon pricing mechanisms, as well as meetings with members of governments and international organizations. It will provide him with an opportunity to promote the Québec-California carbon market and Québec's advantages in terms of green investments, particularly with respect to transportation electrification. Minister Heurtel will also be able to highlight Québec's progress in transitioning to a low-carbon economy and its leadership in this area.
New York Climate Week is among the preparatory events in which Québec will participate prior to the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) taking place in Marrakech, Morocco, in November.
