OTTAWA, March 20, 2016 /CNW/ - Today marks Nowruz, an important holiday in the Persian calendar that marks the first day of spring and the beginning of a new year.
Nowruz, which translates to "New Day," is a day to reflect on renewal, rejuvenation, and hope that the spring season represents. It is a time for families, friends, and communities to come together to celebrate after winter.
It also provides an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of Canadians of Persian and Central Asian descent to the vibrant cultural diversity and success of Canada.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage, I extend my best wishes for health, happiness, and great success to everyone celebrating Nowruz today.
