The Government of Canada is proud to support the 7th Canadian Francophone Games
MONCTON, NB and DIEPPE, NB, July 11, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, kicked off the 7th Canadian Francophone Games. Held every three years, the Games bring together young Francophones, aged 13 to 18, from across Canada.
For more than 20 years, Canadian Heritage has supported these games, whose purpose is to help French-speaking youth connect with one another and strengthen their sense of belonging to the wider Canadian Francophone community through numerous activities. The Government of Canada has provided more than $1.7M in funding to support the 2017 Games.
This year's Games are being held in Moncton–Dieppe and are showcasing the richness of Acadian culture, while giving young people the opportunity to show off their skills during friendly competitions in arts, leadership and sport.
This event is hosted by the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française, a national organization that serves Canada's French-speaking youth and contributes to their socio-cultural development through programming and events, including the Canadian Youth Parliament and the Canadian Youth Forum.
