OTTAWA, Sept. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Through supplier diversity, we can meaningfully advance the participation of women entrepreneurs in the economy to the benefit of all Canadians. That's why today, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister of Status of Women, released a report commissioned by the federal government entitled The Business Case for Supplier Diversity in Canada.
The Business Case provides a summary of the benefits of increasing the participation of women and other diverse populations in the procurement supply chains of large organizations, and highlights promising practices to support this engagement. Supplier diversity is based on the concept that small and medium-sized companies owned by women and diverse populations can add value to large organizations and to their own businesses through mutually beneficial relationships. Diverse supply chains can reduce costs, enhance innovation and reach new markets through increased competition. With the release of this Business Case, prepared for the Government of Canada by the Conference Board of Canada, Status of Women Canada looks forward to continuing to work with federal partners and private sector to improve opportunities for diverse owned businesses in Canada.
