MINISTER OF TRANSPORT COMMITS TO WORKING WITH INDUSTRY TO ENSURE CANADA'S
COMPETITIVENESS
MONTREAL, Sept. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today delivered a keynote address to public- and private-sector partners in the marine, rail, trucking and logistics sectors during the 5th Annual Canada Maritime Conference.
"Efficiency and reliability are vital to Canada's international competitiveness, ensuring that we emerge from the recession with a stronger economy and attract new business," said Minister Strahl. "We must continue to build on the partnerships between governments and the private sector to create the right environment for our industries to grow and prosper."
Minister Strahl highlighted an example of how Canada can become the envy of competitors around the world through partnerships. "It takes a truly creative approach to bring different modes together in new ways. The Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative is a good example of how we can work together to improve Canadian trade."
The annual Canada Maritime Conference highlights the critical role that marine transportation plays in efficient, competitive, multimodal transportation systems serving North America. The focus of this year's conference is bulk and breakbulk cargo, which is the foundation of the Canadian export economy, as well as container cargo and rail service.
