Minister Raitt announces reappointment of Governor to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Français
GATINEAU, QC, June 12, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today announced the reappointment of Ms. Diana Miles as Governor representing British Columbia on the Council of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) for a second three-year term, effective June 6, 2013.
"I am pleased that Ms. Miles has accepted this reappointment," said Minister Raitt. "She brings valuable knowledge and experience to the Council and we welcome her continued contribution to the advancement of occupational health and safety."
Since 2004, Ms. Miles has been employed by WorkSafeBC, where she currently serves as Senior Vice President, Operations, and Vice President, Worker and Employer Services Division. WorkSafeBC is a provincial organization dedicated to promoting workplace health and safety for the workers and employers of British Columbia.
Through her ongoing work at the SHARE Family and Community Services Society and past commitment to organizations such as the Board of Governors of Douglas College and the CKNW Orphans' Fund Board, she has contributed to the progress of occupational health and safety.
The CCOHS is governed by a tripartite council representing governments (federal, provincial and territorial), employers, and labour, which assists in delivering a trustworthy and complete occupational health and safety service, and ensures that the information CCOHS disseminates is unbiased.
