OTTAWA, April 3, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated Sunwing Airlines Inc. and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4055, on ratifying a new collective agreement for cabin crew and cabin safety managers.
"I am pleased that Sunwing and CUPE worked together to reach a new agreement," said Minister Raitt. "Cooperative labour-management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians."
Certified by the Canada Industrial Relations Board on March 27, 2012, CUPE Local 4055 represents a unit of approximately 950 cabin crew and cabin safety managers at Sunwing Airlines Inc.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
