Minister Raitt commends Loomis Express and CAW Canada on reaching agreements in Manitoba and Saskatchewan Français
OTTAWA, June 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, the Government of Canada's Labour Minister, commended Loomis Express (Canada) Ltd. and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW Canada) on renewing their collective agreements.
"I am pleased that the parties worked closely together to reach agreements," said Minister Raitt. "Cooperative labour-management relations support the economic prosperity of Canadians."
The CAW Canada's bargaining units represent approximately 150 Loomis Express employees, including owner-operators, drivers, warehouse workers and clerical employees, located across Manitoba and Saskatchewan, whose previous collective agreements expired on March 31, 2013. Earlier this week, collective agreements were also reached with Loomis employees in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
These agreements were reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). The FMCS provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
