Minister Raitt commends new collective agreement reached at Newfoundland's Deer Lake Regional airport Français
OTTAWA, March 1, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, commended Securitas Transport Aviation Security Limited and the United Steelworkers (USW) following ratification of a new collective agreement by members at Deer Lake Regional Airport in Newfoundland.
"I am pleased that Securitas Transport Aviation Security Limited and USW reached an agreement," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians."
The USW union independently represents some 37 employees who provide pre-boarding security at the Deer Lake Regional Airport.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the Canada Labour Code.
