Minister Raitt speaks of need for women in leadership roles in the transportation industry - Remarks at the Women in Transportation Roundtable Français
HALIFAX, July 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ -The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today addressed participants at the Women in Transportation Roundtable about the integral role that women play in Canada's transportation industry.
Minister Raitt spoke to women from transportation-related industries in Atlantic Canada about the benefits of developing a sustainable, skilled workforce in the transportation sector, and the need for more women to be front and centre, at every level of the industry.
Stressing the importance of women's access to management positions, the Minister encouraged women to build careers in the transportation industry to support Canadians and the economy.
Minister Raitt also urged the participants and all women who are leaders in the transportation industry to do what they can to address the underrepresentation of women in the workplace to develop a sustainable, skilled workforce in the transportation sector.
