Minister Steven Blaney Announces Funding for 72nd Anniversary of Battle of Britain Ceremony and Parade in Calgary Français
CALGARY, Sept. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today announced funding of up to $3,235 for the 72nd Anniversary of the Battle of Britain 2012 Ceremony and Parade being held in Calgary on September 16, 2012.
"Our Government is truly proud to support events and activities that engage Canadians to honour our nation's heroes," said Minister Blaney. "Through the efforts of organizations such as the 783 Calgary Wing Air Force Association of Canada, we remember the sacrifices of those brave Canadians and express our gratitude to Veterans, men and women in uniform, all those who serve today and their families."
The 783 Calgary Wing Air Force Association of Canada is hosting a traditional remembrance service and parade to mark the 72nd anniversary of the Battle of Britain on the grounds of the Calgary Military Museums. Local cadets and Veterans are participating in the ceremony recognizing the sacrifices of those who fought in the battle. A reception is being hosted in cooperation with the Air Force Museum of Alberta after the event.
The Community Engagement Partnership Fund provides funding for non-profit organizations, educational institutions and other groups interested in planning remembrance initiatives. Funding applications are accepted throughout the year.
