Minister Steven Blaney Announces Support for the 2014 Season of Saint-Romuald's Vieux Bureau de Poste Français
LÉVIS, QC, Nov. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Member of Parliament (Lévis-Bellechasse), today announced funding for Diffusion Avant Scène for the 2014 season at the Vieux Bureau de Poste performance hall in Saint-Romuald. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
"I am pleased to announce that the Government of Canada is renewing its support for Diffusion Avant Scène, which invites the public to discover new talent each year," said Minister Blaney. "Organizations like this one help ensure the cultural vitality of our communities and enrich the quality of life of all Canadians."
"Our Government knows that arts and culture are important engines of economic growth, that they create jobs, and that they are a source of wealth for our communities," said Minister Glover. "That's why we're proud to support organizations that allow citizens to take part in artistic and cultural activities within their own communities."
"The funding provided by Canadian Heritage in 2013 was an important lever that allowed us to undertake specific projects to make culture more accessible for the citizens of Lévis," said Sophie Lemelin, Executive Director of Diffusion Avant Scène. "It is with tremendous gratitude that the Diffusion Avant Scène team accepts this funding for 2014, which will help us consolidate our efforts and continue to support emerging local artists."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $10,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
