Ministers Raitt and Bergen to Deliver Remarks at Leading Mental Health Conference
OTTAWA, March 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Ministers Raitt and Bergen will address a leading mental health conference taking place in Ottawa on March 26 and 27 at the Ottawa Convention Centre. The event will also feature the participation of Her Excellency Mrs. Sharon Johnston.
The 2014 conference of the Canadian Depression Research and Intervention Network (CDRIN), entitled Transforming Depression Through Connections, is intended to examine: emerging ideas and challenges; share progress and knowledge nationally; increase attendee understanding of various mental health initiatives available to them; and demonstrate how CDRIN will benefit the work of researchers and the needs of patients alike on a national scale. Doctors, mental health experts and persons with lived experiences will be key participants.
CDRIN was announced in a previous budget and the groundwork has since been laid to bring together researchers and front line workers to effectively deal with depression - with a special focus on PTSD and suicide.
Further ways to advance these issues will be discussed at the conference.
