Mitec's Solutions Continue to Generate Interest from North American Telecom

MONTREAL, July 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Mitec Telecom Inc. ("Mitec") (TSX: MTM), a leading designer and manufacturer of mobile wireless, fixed wireless, broadcast and satellite components announced today that it has received an initial order for one of its innovative coverage solution products. The customer, a Canadian telecom company, is new to Mitec and the equipment will be delivered in the first fiscal quarter, the period ending July 31, 2010.

The Mitec solution enables a 3G overlay onto an existing 2G network and is the first part of a major network deployment that is anticipated to generate additional orders. 3G is able to deliver data capability similar to cable and DSL. 3G networks enable an operator to reduce operational costs while allowing delivery of next generation services at a lower cost per bit then present network architectures. "As operators across the globe continue to rollout 3G services, we expect the demand for this type of equipment to drive our coverage solutions product line", said Dan Piergentili, Mitec's President and CEO. Mitec is in trials with other operators in North America with similar equipment and expects continued traction with these products.

"The appeal of this technology is easy to demonstrate to our growing customer base in this area, since we combine existing 2G base station equipment, including antennas and feeder cables already in place with our technology to generate a hybrid solution that provides the network upgrade their customers demand", said Piergentili. Operators face various obstacles, including cost, delivery and structural issues when assessing 3G network overlays with their existing tower infrastructures. Mitec's solutions help these operators around these issues while preserving network coverage capabilities, creating a solution which relieves the major aspects of upgrades such as load constraints, tower leasing and attachment costs. The product involved was designed and will be built at Mitec's Suzhou, China facility.
