Mitsubishi and Its Dealers Donate $458,000 To Charity Through "Right To Play
Challenge"
MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 19 /CNW/ - Today, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada Inc. (MMSCAN) donated more than $458,000 to the international humanitarian organization Right To Play.
Since 2008, Mitsubishi and its dealers have been raising money for Right To Play each summer bringing the total donation to more than 1.4 million dollars.
The money donated was raised through the spring Right To Play Challenge, a 3-month long charitable drive that for the third year in a row saw Mitsubishi donate $100 for every new vehicle sold between April 1 and June 30 to Right To Play.
Koji Soga, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada Inc. presented the cheque to Johann Koss, President and CEO of Right To Play, following a meeting at Mitsubishi's head office in Mississauga.
"This donation represents a huge achievement for Mitsubishi and our dealers", said Koji Soga, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors of Canada. "Each year our staff and dealers work harder to generate more funds to support Right To Play and the children who benefit from their programs."
Right To Play is the official charity of MMSCAN. Operating in over 20 countries, the organization uses sport and play programs to improve health, build life skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease.
Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, with national offices in Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
"The leadership and dedication demonstrated by Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada throughout our three year partnership has been remarkable," said Johann Olav Koss, President and CEO of Right To Play.
"Mitsubishi's support is invaluable in helping us continue to improve the lives of children and strengthen communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas around the world. This year MMSCAN also provided vehicles for our staff, volunteers and Athlete Ambassadors during the Olympic Games in Vancouver which reinforces their exceptional generosity and commitment."
An international team of top athletes from more than 40 countries support the organization, generously donating their time to give back through sport. As role models for healthy lifestyle choices, they inspire children and help to raise awareness and funding for Right To Play projects.
Each week, more than 700,000 children take part in regular sport and play activities and a combined total of more than one million children attend regular programming and special sports events and festivals. This is made possible by more than 15,000 local volunteer Coaches, Teachers and Leaders around the world.
