17 days to help 17,000 children as part of the Hunger Doesn't Take a Holiday campaign
MONTRÉAL, Aug. 9, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - As the Hunger Doesn't Take a Holiday campaign continues, Moisson Montréal challenged Montrealers to form teams and collect as many donations as possible during the next 17 days. The goal of this initiative is to come to the aid of 17,000 young people in the city's neighbourhoods, between the ages of three and seventeen, who depend on food aid to get by.
Moisson Montréal Executive Director Richard D. Daneau reiterates the importance of this campaign's success: "We have given ourselves a very reasonable objective of $45,000 for this very first summer campaign, which is not a big price to pay to have the peace of mind knowing that thousands of families will have enough to eat this summer, a period of the year that's all about joy and lighthearted fun. With this initiative, we wish to remind people that the issue of hunger is present throughout the year and that each donation makes a difference. By participating in this challenge, you allow Moisson Montréal and the organisations we serve to offer healthy meals to thousands of schoolchildren."
The winning team, who will be awarded two season's passes to La Ronde, will be unveiled this August 26, as part of a volunteer morning activity open to the general public at Moisson Montréal. Along with several members and community deciders, Florence Longpré, actress and spokesperson for the Hunger Doesn't Take a Holiday campaign, will be in attendance.

Mid-campaign update
Almost halfway through the Hunger Doesn't Take a Holiday campaign, Moisson Montréal has collected $18,940, which is 42% of the total objective. It's a considerable sum, but not enough to meet the needs of the thousands of families in the metropolitan region who do not have access to meals supplied by schools and who have to turn to Moisson Montréal for aid.
