TORONTO, May 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Different is the new normal for Edmonton, Alberta's Carmel Baird in the new CMT (Canada) original series Mom's a Medium. She talks to the dead. She helps families find closure and investigators with missing persons cases, all while juggling the demands of a busy family life. Produced by Lark Productions in association with CMT, Mom's a Medium provides viewers with an inside look at Carmel's intriguing and mysterious ties to the afterlife, when the 10 x 30-minute original reality series premieres on Friday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET. With a household full of kids and grandkids, six horses, 10 chickens, six dogs, and a multitude of otherworldly souls to keep her busy, life with Carmel is always an adventure. Carmel's psychic gift began with an unexplainable anxiety caused by the persistent communication from those who have crossed over. She finally discovered that these voices were a result of her psychic medium abilities. Now, five years later, Carmel's schedule is packed with private client readings, workshops, healing circles and group readings.
Audiences will be charmed by Carmel and entertained by her down to earth and amusing family," said Vibika Bianchi, Vice President, Original Programming, Corus Women and Family. "Mom's a Medium captures the fun and craziness of being a mom of many in rural Alberta, all while delivering spine tingling messages from the other side."
The series follows Carmel as she takes several clients on an emotional and spiritual experience with the afterlife. One episode includes a private reading with award-winning country superstar Chad Brownlee, who is overcome with emotion after he receives a message from a loved one. She also uses her extra sensory abilities to match up Edmonton's most eligible singles in annual event. And sensing that her children may also possess psychic abilities, Carmel calls on her psychic idol Sonia Choquette to advise.
"We are so pleased to be working with Corus again, especially CMT, to introduce Mom's a Medium to viewers," commented Louise Clark, President, Lark Productions. It may be a show about talking to dead people, but it has a huge heart. Erin Haskett, Executive Producer, Lark Productions added, "Carmel, with her unique talent and family will inspire affection in viewers across the country."
