Funding secured through Canada Media Fund's Experimental Stream
TORONTO, Jan. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - 9 Story Entertainment and Monster Factory are pleased to announce that Monsters Everywhere, the first-ever Monster Factory app, has officially moved into production after receiving a second round of funding from Canada Media Fund's Experimental Stream. 9 Story acquired a 50 percent interest in Monster Factory in late 2011. The companies plan to launch the app in the fall of 2014.
Toronto-based Little Guy Games will produce the app which will be released to a wide audience under a freemium model. To accompany the game, Monster Factory will be introducing a new line of six plush monster characters.
Monsters Everywhere is a monstrously fun mobile game for iOS and Android that artfully blends geo-location, social-networking, and photo-sharing into a sophisticated 'virtual tourism' experience. Supported by a cast of endearing monster characters, Monsters Everywhere captures the magic of travel in a delightful casual game that harnesses the capabilities of mobile devices to re-define 'mobility.' As monsters hop from device to device they collect gifts from the players they visit, in the form of user-generated photographs and virtual souvenirs. While their monsters are away, players build and manage their own monster hotels, where they host inbound monster guests belonging to other players.
"We are building an app at an unusual scope and level," said Vince Commisso, President & CEO, 9 Story Entertainment. "The launch of Monsters Everywhere is an important content driven initiative to grow the Monster Factory brand, as part of our larger marketing and licensing strategy."
"We're thrilled to be working closely with the experienced team at Little Guy Games to bring our characters to life on the mobile market," said Adam Dunn, Co-Founder & Co-President, Monster Factory. "The concept and gameplay of Monsters Everywhere will provide the ideal platform for our monsters to come to life in the hands of players all over the world."
