TSX-V SYMBOL: MTZ
CALGARY, May 8, 2012 /CNW/ - Montana Exploration Corp. ("MTZ" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Company has closed the Farm Out and Participation Agreement with a Denver-based private company that we announced on March 22, 2012. Our new partner will move forward immediately on the first phase of the 3D seismic program, totaling 50 square miles.
MTZ has identified multiple oil targets in five play types over a portion of our large acreage base offsetting existing production in the Upper and Lower Shaunavon. Our partner will pay $1.5 million to shoot the first 25 square miles of 3D seismic at no cost to MTZ, and will commit $2.0 million towards two initial wells to identify and pursue commercial production in the Upper and Lower Shaunavon. Our partner will also make a staged payment of approximately $6.7 million, in addition to its work commitments, to earn a 50% working net interest in approximately 100,000 net acres.
