Montréal en Lumière 2015 - Casinos du Québec spokesperson Gregory Charles will play a piano sculpted out of ice! Français
MONTRÉAL, Feb. 3, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Casino de Montréal is proud to be a partner in the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE once again. The event celebrating the beauty of winter in an urban setting will be held from February 19 to March 1, 2015, at Place des Festivals. This year, the Casino will present frost-filled entertainment and a little something for your sweet tooth in the Jardin de Lumière Casino de Montréal – Escale gourmande, at the corner of De Bleury and Sainte-Catherine Street West.
Frost-filled entertainment
On Thursday, February 19, the first day of the festival, two ice sculptures by Ross Baisas, the Casino de Montréal's expert sculptor-artist, will welcome visitors to the Jardin de Lumière. On Saturday, February 21, the artist will be on hand to make more ice-sculpting magic by producing four works of art between noon and 11 p.m. Finally, on Friday, February 27, Mr. Baisas will sculpt a piano out of ice that will be used the next day to produce music during Nuit blanche celebrations! None other than Québec's Casinos enthusiastic spokesperson, Gregory Charles, will make that piano sing to festival-goers. And for the occasion, revellers will have an opportunity to participate in an Instagram promotion in front of the ice sculptures for a chance to win a magical evening for four persons at the Casino de Montréal.
Espace sucré Le Montréal
Throughout the festival, the public will be able to sample the heavenly maple sugar pie concocted by Jean-Pierre Curtat, Executive Chef at the Casino and spokesperson for the festival's gourmet segment, at Espace sucré Le Montréal. "In winter, we need comfort food, and maple sugar pie has always represented culinary enjoyment and well-being," he said. "That's why we are offering festival-goers this traditional Québécois dessert."
The Casino de Montréal's Jardin de Lumière will be in operation every night of the event. Access is free, as it is for all MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE outdoor activities.
Event recognized by UNESCO
MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE has been charming festival-goers for the past 16 years. In fact, the festival was selected by UNESCO as a choice event during the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. With its free family-oriented outdoor activities, a wide range of in-hall performances and exceptional gourmet food offerings, this highly colourful and light-filled event demonstrates the level Montréal has reached as an incomparable entertainment destination in both summer and winter.
