Montreal Internet Exchange members can now access QIX nodes at eStruxture's MTL-1 Data Center Français
MONTREAL, June 16, 2020 /CNW/ - The Montreal Internet Exchange (QIX), a non-profit organization working to create a more robust, high-performing Internet in the province of Quebec, is now present at eStruxture's MTL-1 data center.
Founded in 2013, QIX was established to provide faster performing Internet traffic at a lower price in Eastern Canada and to ensure that Internet traffic originating and terminating in Canada doesn't have to cross through the United States.
Thanks to this new partnership, eStruxture customers can now get 10 to 100 G connectivity to the IX, giving them direct access to content at a significantly lower price - 15 to 20% percent compared to public Internet transit services.
"We're very proud to be working with QIX and are impressed by the value that the exchange has brought to Quebec over the years," says Todd Coleman, President and CEO of eStruxture. "This partnership further demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers, who will now benefit from greater connectivity at a much lower price."
With QIX's one-to-many peering tool, global content, gaming, and cloud providers can exchange traffic with international and regional ISPs, ultimately making the Internet more efficient. Since it was first established, the exchange has grown its membership to over 70 members, which primarily consist of content and service providers and ISPs that want direct access to those providers.
"We're very excited about the growth of the exchange over the last few years. Our success is a credit to the Montreal tech hub and our partners. With eStruxture, we're now able to leverage the data center provider's expansive network of some of the best carriers," according to Seth Crimmins, President of the QIX Board and EVP of Operations at Westelcom.
