MONTREAL, June 11, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Montréal Space for Life invites members of the general public to register to attend the finalists' presentations in the international architecture competition, on July 9, 10 and 11, 2014, at the Montréal Botanical Garden. During these three evenings, Montrealers will have the rare privilege of watching the finalist multidisciplinary teams defending their designs for the three large Space for Life projects, the Insectarium Metamorphosis, the renewal of the Biodôme and the Glass Pavilion at the Botanical Garden.
Committed to a creative and participatory movement aimed at reinventing our relationship with nature, Montréal Space for Life intends to create living spaces that are vibrant, evolving, permeable and ecological, while meeting the highest green building standards for these three projects, which will stand as legacies of Montréal's 375th anniversary.
A major international competition
The competition, open to multidisciplinary teams of green architects, Living Building Challenge and LEED certification experts, scenic designers, landscape architects and engineers, was launched this past winter and attracted 30 proposals from nine different countries, mainly Canada (Quebec) and France. Eight finalist teams were selected. Inspired by the Space for Life mission, the competition will select the three best possible projects for the future development of the major Space for Life facilities.
A rare and exceptional opportunity
The finalists' public presentations to the jury offer an exceptional opportunity to see part of the process that normally occurs behind closed doors. Anyone who wishes to attend the presentations must register on-line (http://mtlunescodesign.com/en/inscription/visite/espacepourlavie).
Each team will have one hour, i.e. 30 minutes to present its project and 30 minutes to answer the jury's questions. All the presentations will take place at the Montréal Botanical Garden.
