Vibrant colours, playful pumpkins and fun for the entire family!
MONTRÉAL, Sept. 27, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Starting on September 30, Montréal Space for Life invites you to reconnect with your inner child to enjoy the delights of fall and celebrate Halloween in a spirit of fun. And since nature always puts on a good show, the Botanical Garden's Arboretum and Laurentian Maple Forest will be sporting their finest fall colours for the occasion. Again this year, budding artists will have a chance to enter our traditional pumpkin-decorating contest and win a prize. Young and young at heart will get a close-up look at spiders, while the Little Monsters Courtyard play structures will delight kids looking for a challenge. Together, the Biodôme, Botanical Garden and Insectarium are your ticket to enjoying fall and Halloween in a flurry of fun, educational and colourful activities!
BOTANICAL GARDEN – Starting September 30, the Great Pumpkin Ball will be in full swing!
Good witch Esmeralda, an urban farmer on her days off, knows a little something about the wonderful world of cucurbitaceae and the weird shapes they come in. She'll be your guide as you tour the hundreds of pumpkins and squashes that visitors will have decorated and left on display at the Botanical Garden by October 10. Then, at our squash counter, our ugly vegetables with their funny, twisted shapes will take the spotlight while the kids burn off some energy on the obstacle course or Jiggle Bridge in the Little Monsters Courtyard. Our play for children, Pépo citrouille, will also be back on stage for one last time. You won't want to miss it!
INSECTARIUM – Starting October 6, Spiders Unmasked is ready to win you over!
To get into the spirit of Halloween, get up close and personal with these attractive, accomplished hunters. Don't be shy as our spiders and their cousins put their best leg forward: Touch them for yourself and see just how docile and irresistible they are! And just to add a little flair, three costumes right out of the Cirque du Soleil show OVO are on exhibit on the museum's first level. They're real works of art.
Biodôme – SPECIAL ACTIVITY – October 29 and 30
At Halloween, treats aren't just for the kids! There are surprises in store for our mammals, fish and birds as well. But they'll have to use all their senses and abilities to unwrap their gifts and get to their favourite foods, hidden carefully away in pumpkin-shaped containers. A great way to build their skills!

Montréal Space for Life is made up of four attractions on the same site: the Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium. These four prestigious municipal institutions form Canada's largest natural science museum complex. Together, they are launching a daring, creative urban movement, urging everyone to rethink the connection between humankind and nature and cultivate a new way of living.
