MONTRÉAL, Sept. 24, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Take the time to laugh, get crazy and enjoy all the Halloween fun with your family: Montréal Space for Life has prepared loads of delightful experiences for the senses, from October 3 to 31. The Botanical Garden will be hosting the 29th edition of the Great Pumpkin Ball, with lots to do for little monsters, friendly ghosts and the young at heart! Pépo-citrouille is turning 20 this year! More than 400,000 children have enjoyed following his hilarious adventures in the Cucurbitaceae world over the years, and he's not done yet. Esmeralda the witch will also be joining in the celebrations, featuring games, puzzling quizzes and, of course, the pumpkin-decorating contest. At the Insectarium, spiders will be in the spotlight, while at the Biodôme, the animals will have fun getting at the surprises hidden inside pumpkins!

La famille de Pépo - A play for ages 4 to 8
This year, Pépo sets out on a journey to meet the members of his big plant family, the Cucurbitaceae. It's all so confusing! Luffa, the sponge gourd, appeals to his imagination, but lagenaria, the decorative squash, plays on his heart strings with her musical talents. He even meets a new relative, the amazing multi-talented calabash gourd. Length: 30 minutes. Complete schedule at montrealspaceforlife.ca.
Esmeralda the witch
Accompanied by her cat, Abracadabra, and her broom, Gontrand, our friendly witch invites children to chant some intriguing magic spells with her!
Pumpkin-decorating contest
Put your imagination to work and create the most original, best-decorated or zaniest pumpkin. You can use anything you want to make your masterpiece! There will be lots of prizes for the many winners in different categories. Submit your work of art between October 3 and 13. Winners will be announced on October 18, at 9:30 a.m.
Little Monsters Courtyard – An outdoor play area for the under-10 set
Kids can have loads of fun outside, in a play area full of super challenges! They can test their balance on the Shaky Bridge, make their way across the Tricky River and find a path through the Straw Maze, and then test their knowledge with the Town and Country Mouse game, all about urban and rural agriculture.
A Completely Squash food fair!
The Promenades Hochelaga-Maisonneuve will be presenting a new culinary event. Chefs from the Botanical Garden restaurant and restaurants on the Promenades will be concocting all kinds of mouth-watering delicacies featuring squash. Only $2 per sample, from noon to 6 p.m. on October 5, at the Botanical Garden.
Squash Kiosk
Come learn about the fifty different varieties of squash grown at the Botanical Garden. One of our experts will be happy to tell you all about them, and then you can test your new-found knowledge with our quiz! Daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday and Saturday until 7 p.m.)
Sneaky Spiders - INSECTARIUM
Naturally well made! Who's that? Well, spiders, of course! They're not only great charmers, but also fearsome hunters, with amazing adaptability. Halloween is the perfect time to learn about their exploits! We bet you can't resist their charms.
Pumpkin Treats - BIODÔME
Come see how mammals, fish and even birds can use their ingenuity to open pumpkins full of each one's favourite foods! It's an enrichment activity that keeps the inhabitants of the different ecosystems alert, just as they are in the wild. October 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
