MONTREAL, Oct. 3, 2018 /CNW/ - Éric Larocque has been named a Hero of Everyday Life by Sodexo Canada's Stop Hunger Foundation for his commitment and leadership in combatting hunger in Montreal.
The annual award, which includes a grant of $3,000 to be donated to the hero's charity of choice, recognizes outstanding Sodexo employees who've made a significant impact on reducing hunger in their communities. This year, the grant will be donated in Éric's name to Le Carrefour d'Entraide Lachine, an organization that meets the basic needs of disadvantaged people by promoting education.
Éric, who is a District Manager in Montreal, is receiving the award for the second time. He and his Sodexo team have led numerous initiatives and contributed more than $10,000 to local not-for-profits including: Tablée des chefs, Club des petits déjeuner, La maison du père, Fondation Charles Bruneau, Centre d'action bénévole de l'ouest de l'île, and Centre d'action bénévole de Valcourt.
"I'm privileged to work for Sodexo, and I'm privileged to have three meals a day, which is not the case for everybody," says Éric. "This award is for all of my team members and the many volunteers and organizations who are dedicated to fighting hunger in our community."
"Éric's passion to improve the quality of life of his neighbours in Montreal is inspiring," says Suzanne Bergeron, president of Sodexo Canada. "His ability to mentor and inspire acts of kindness around him is extraordinary. We're proud to name him a Hero of Everyday Life."
