MONTREAL, May 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Broccolini has just acquired the very last parcel of land available for redevelopment in the vicinity of Square-Victoria, in Montreal's International District. The acquisition of this plot, located at 630 Saint-Jacques Street, took place following Broccolini's acquisition of the adjacent building located at 620 Saint-Jacques Street. The company plans to erect a residential real estate project on this nearly 12,000 square feet of land. Details regarding the project will be revealed in the coming weeks.
This ideal location provides immediate access to Square-Victoria metro station and offers exceptional views over Montreal. On the one side, the project will overlook the vast green space of Square-Victoria which surrounds the Parisian-style metro entrance, an installation created by Hector Guimard and presented to the City of Montreal in 1967. The other façade will offer views over the activities of the Old Port and its unique architecture, including Habitat 67 and Silo No. 5. On the corner of Saint-Jacques and Gauvin streets, the façade of the original building, dating back to 1905, will be preserved and integrated into the architectural concept.
This project adds to the roster of other large-scale projects being built by Broccolini in the heart of Montreal, including the acclaimed L/Avenue project, located opposite the Bell Centre, whose 50 storeys make it the tallest residential tower in the city. Broccolini will also be responsible for the construction and operation of the new Maison de Radio-Canada which will be built on the corner of René-Levesque Boulevard and Papineau Street. The construction of this new media complex will begin this fall and its inauguration is slated for 2020.
