Canadian Suit Drive Creates Opportunities for Job-seekers
TORONTO, Sept. 8, 2015 /CNW/ -- As Canadians across the country celebrate Labour Day, Moores Clothing for Men is proud to announce that its 2015 Canadian Suit Drive was the most successful to date, resulting in almost 65,000 donated clothing items this year.
The 6th Annual Moores Canadian Suit Drive aimed to address the unemployment issue affecting 742,100* Canadian men by collecting and providing gently used professional attire and the confidence associated with putting on a suit. The campaign kicked off on June 22nd and ran through July 31st encouraging Canadians to donate to any of the more than 120 Moores' stores across Canada.
This year, the Suit Drive also partnered with Canadian celebrities, such as NHL superstar John Tavares and Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey, to help spread the word and ensure Canadians know about the plight affecting so many Canadians. "It was a pleasure to be a part of the Canadian Suit Drive. There are so many young men and women across Canada that cannot get a leg up because they lack proper attire for interviews. The Canadian Suit Drive provides hope for those trying to get started," said Coach Dwane Casey, Head Coach of the Toronto Raptors.
"Through the Suit Drive, we've had the opportunity to hear and see many success stories of men who turned their lives around. It is undeniable that the right professional attire can offer an air of confidence to a person, and that a good suit can sometimes be the thing standing in a person's way of securing a full-time position, establishing their career or just making a positive first impression," says Alykhan Suleman, Executive Director of New Circles, a Suit Drive recipient organization in Toronto.
Moores would like to thank all of those who donated to the Canadian Suit Drive, as well as thank the recipient organizations involved in helping those in need make a positive first impression.
