Retailer Sets Goal to Secure 75,000 Donations by July 31
TORONTO, June 22, 2015 /CNW/ -- Now entering its sixth year, the Moores' 2015 Canadian Suit Drive, which provides gently used professional clothing to unemployed Canadians, kicks off on June 22nd and runs until July 31st. Clothing collected at Moores stores will be distributed to more than 60 local recipient organizations across Canada that provide job-ready skills, training and seminars to disadvantaged men and women entering or re-entering the work force.
This year, Moores has set an aggressive target and is encouraging consumers to donate 75,000 articles of clothing before July 31st. Canadians can donate men's suits, shirts, jackets, pants, ties, belts and shoes as well as women's professional clothing at any of the more than 120 Moores Clothing For Men stores across the country. As a thank you for donating, customers will receive 50 per cent off the regular retail price of their next purchase from Moores (excluding shoes, clearance, and exceptional value items).
NHL superstar, John Tavares believes in the cause, so much so that's he's offering his support to help spread the word. "I'm thrilled to support the Canadian Suit Drive and help men and women in our communities acquire the confidence needed to get back to work, while wearing the appropriate attire," Tavares said. "A positive first impression is very important when you walk into an interview. When I show up to a game, wearing a nice suit, I'm prepared to take on any challenge I may face on the ice. The Canadian Suit Drive is something I am proud to support – to give self-confidence back to fellow hard-working Canadians."
Moores' Canadian Suit Drive has collected 231,470 clothing donations since it began five years ago, and has made a difference in many people's lives. Eric was a 2014 recipient who benefited from a suit donation and, in turn, helped others.
"The Canadian Suit Drive absolutely helped me make a strong first impression, which became a lasting impression, and helped me secure a full time role as an international teacher," says Eric. "I'd like to pay it forward and help spread the news of this important cause. There are many people, like me, who have benefited from this amazing campaign."
