More recognition for RelayHealth, the fully-integrated web-based solution that is bringing patients and their doctors closer together Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Praise for RelayHealth, McKesson Canada's proven web-based solution for electronic health records, continues with a new recognition to add to its growing list of kudos. The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness Personal Health Records project, which is powered by RelayHealth, was awarded second place in the 2014 Canada Health Infoway Accelerate Challenge in mid-September for its impressive growth in patient adoption.
The Personal Health Records project (PHR) provides patients in Nova Scotia with the ability to communicate with their family doctor and other health care providers securely via the Internet, accessing the information they need to take a more active and personal role in managing their health and wellness. Launched as a pilot in 2012, the project now boasts more than 6,000 registered patients and 35 participating clinics and doctors in the province, and is widely considered a success within Nova Scotia's health care network.
The Canada Health Infoway Accelerate Challenge awards ceremony was held in Ottawa on September 16, 2014. The PHR award was accepted by Dr. Peter W. Vaughan, Nova Scotia Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness.
"The Nova Scotia project, and the important recognition it has received, shows the strength of RelayHealth as a secure and effective collaboration tool that helps patients stay more closely connected to their doctors, and keep records up-to-date across the health care continuum," explains George Attar, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology and Information Officer. "We are very proud of how well it has been received in Nova Scotia, and look forward to expanding RelayHealth to other provinces."
"RelayHealth helps strengthen the links between patients and health care providers, from family doctors and local clinics to hospitals and testing laboratories," says David Mosher, director of RelayHealth for McKesson Canada. "It is the ideal technology solution that helps patients and health care providers work together for better health."
RelayHealth is a proven health service that has been used by over 46 million patients and 40,000 clinicians across North America, enabling secure information flow between patients and all of their health care providers. By making information exchange and collaboration easier, RelayHealth can speed up access to care, decrease waiting times, enable better, faster diagnosis and reduce costs. About the Canada Health Infoway Accelerate Challenge
The Accelerate Challenge was designed to help accelerate digital health use among patients and clinicians in an effort to boost patient care and foster health system improvements through greater use. Launched in October 2013, the Accelerate Challenge was open to Infoway demonstration projects that successfully met their active user and reporting milestones. It encouraged participants to exceed those targets and continue to recruit new users for their digital health innovations. The Accelerate Challenge is sponsored by Canada Health Infoway, an independent, not-for-profit organization funded by the federal government.
