TORONTO, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - From April 1 to June 30, 2014 60,868 people registered their consent to organ and tissue donation.
New registration data for 179 communities across Ontario is now available at BeADonor.ca
Trillium Gift of Life Network updates the information quarterly so communities can track their progress. The overall registration rate in Ontario, which reached 25 per cent as of March 31, 2014, increased to 25.2 per cent.
Communities with the highest rate of growth over the past three months include: Cornwall (5.55% growth); Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry United County (5.35%); Essex (5.14%), and Hawkesbury (5.12%).
Also notable this quarter is North Bay reaching the milestone of 50 per cent registration. North Bay becomes the sixth Ontario community, joining Lively, Hanmer, Garson, Val Caron and Parry Sound, with half of its eligible residents having registered consent to organ and tissue donation.
Registration can be done at www.BeADonor.ca, at any ServiceOntario centre or by completing a Gift of Life consent form and mailing it in.
