More Vancity Credit Union staff vote to join the BCGEU

VANCOUVER, May 28 /CNW/ - Staff at the Vancity Credit Union Newton Branch have voted to join the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU). This is the second Vancity branch where staff have voted to join the BCGEU this month.

"The employees at the Newton Branch join over 400 BCGEU members at Vancity, including staff at the Surrey City Centre Branch who voted to join in early May," said Darryl Walker, BCGEU president.

The union has been meeting with Vancity staff at a number of different branches who have expressed an interest in joining the union.

At the community level the union and credit union is working together to find community initiatives that reflect common values and a shared commitment to social and economic justice.

Vancity is the largest credit union in English speaking Canada.
