Morneau Shepell receives one gold and three silver awards at 20th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference
TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2016 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell was recognized with five awards at the 20th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada November 7 to 9. The 2016 eHealthcare Leadership Awards, presented by Health Care Communications, honoured Morneau Shepell in the following five categories: Best Overall Internet Site, Best Social Networking, Best Mobile Communications, Best Marketing Campaign, and eHealth Organizational Commitment. This is the third consecutive year that Morneau Shepell's online health initiatives have been recognized by the organization.
Morneau Shepell took home gold for Best Overall Internet Site for its International Student Support Program (ISSP) website (us.myissp.com), which provides round-the-clock support for international students enrolled at post-secondary institutions in the U.S. A leading international counselling organization, Morneau Shepell designed its ISSP for international students who would not normally reach out for support because of stigma, and cultural and language barriers. International students receive support in their native language and cultural context to help them resolve mental and physical health concerns, culture shock, adaptation to life in North America, and much more.
"Healthy students perform better and remain enrolled in higher education, making Morneau Shepell's ISSP a key component of any institution's international student recruitment and retention strategy," said Matthew McEvoy, Senior Director, International Student Support for Morneau Shepell., "Our program makes it easy for international students to get help with any concern they have while living and studying abroad, and at any time of day, any day of the year.
McEvoy noted, "In addition to the ISSP website, we've made access to support available via video counselling, online chat and the mobile app, My ISSP. Students can seek confidential support whenever they need it, in their own language, on any device. We also work in partnership with the universities, with international student services and the campus counselling centres, to integrate the ISSP with the other services they provide."
Morneau Shepell also took home silver awards for Best Social Networking for its various social media vehicles, and Best Mobile Communications, in recognition of its workhealthlife.com site, various My EAP apps and its My ISSP app. The workhealthlife.com website provides 24/7/365 access to EFAP support, tools and resources. Managers, employees, and their family members are able to quickly find relevant information and help anytime, anywhere, any way. My EAP offers confidential access to EFAP support via mobile devices worldwide. The app offers employees and their families a wide range of assistance, such as health and wellness information through articles and videos, as well as interactive tools, including confidential counselling and service booking.
The "Crisis Response" campaign that earned Morneau Shepell its third silver medal this year in the Best Marketing Campaign category related to the company's efforts regarding the Fort McMurray, Alberta wildfires. Morneau Shepell expanded its EFAP efforts to assist those who were evacuated and whose lives were in crisis. The company launched a national, 24/7 Fort McMurray crisis line, deployed trauma counsellors to the area, and set up mobile counselling units in co-ordination with select evacuation centres in Alberta.
"Morneau Shepell fully believes in harnessing the power of the Internet to help our clients support the total health of their employees," said Barb Veder, Vice President, Clinical Services and Research Lead. "We are honoured to have received five eHealthcare Leadership Awards this year, including the eHealth Organizational Commitment award. That commitment is reflected in our ongoing efforts to develop leading-edge online products and services that enhance both individual health and organizational success."
The eHealthcare Leadership Awards received entries from a wide range of healthcare organizations within 15 different classifications, in which organizations competed against others of comparable size, type and resources. A panel of 116 experts familiar with healthcare and the Internet evaluated each entry. Websites and other digital communications were rated based on a standard of Internet excellence and how they compared with others in their group classification. Award winners are recognized in the December 2016 issue of eHealthcare Strategy & Trends magazine.
