Morneau Shepell introduces new services to boost health, engagement and productivity in the workplace Français
TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell Inc. (TSX: MSI) today announced the launch of the Total Health Index (THI) family of solutions. The new THI enables employers to benchmark their current risks and opportunities for the health, engagement and productivity of their workforce in order to develop the best strategies to improve outcomes for both their employees and the organization.
"The tools for measuring health, engagement and productivity are often disconnected, making it hard to see the overall picture and determine the best strategy for driving improved results," said Julien Ponce, Executive Vice President, Eastern Canada, Morneau Shepell. "Our THI solutions integrate information to help employers discover the 'what and why' of their workplace health in order to create measurable action plans for improvement. Our THI solutions tie human capital metrics to business outcomes."
Employees complete a confidential self-assessment that measures their engagement level, gauges physical and psychological health, and determines their ability to cope with stress. They receive their own results along with ideas and resources on how they can make the most of their work, health and life. Aggregate workforce data is shared with the employer. "This information helps organizations facilitate a new, two-way conversation with their employees about all aspects of health and the workplace, creating a shared accountability model between employer and employee for health, engagement and productivity," said Stephen Liptrap, Executive Vice President, Morneau Shepell.
The THI approach is grounded in applied research. "Employers have previously only been able to obtain a snapshot of various aspects of workforce health," stated Dr. Bill Howatt, Morneau Shepell's Chief Research and Development Officer for Workforce Productivity. "Our holistic approach gives organizations answers and support for their major workforce challenges, including productivity, engagement, absenteeism, mental/physical health, disability, and increasing program costs and complexities."
The THI suite includes three components so employers can choose the right level of support for their needs, and easily change the level in future if their needs change:
- THI Discovery is for employers who want to track the overall health and productivity of their organization, and create a shared accountability between the employer and employee for improving results. It combines an industry-leading Health Risk Assessment that provides real-time feedback for employees, support services to help employees improve their health, and integrated reporting to help employers track and improve overall results.
- THI Insight is for employers who want a deeper understanding of the drivers of health, engagement and productivity, so they can develop strategies to improve performance. It includes everything in THI Discovery, plus reporting on employee engagement, management effectiveness, psychological health and safety, and insights on the factors that will help them drive better performance.
- THI Impact is for employers who want an integrated picture of costs across their benefit and HR programs, so they can maximize their Return on Investment (ROI). It includes tools to help employers benchmark their costs, understand their risks, determine where to invest in prevention, and model the impact of program changes on overall results.
Morneau Shepell has also developed a tool called The Cost of Doing Nothing to help organizations uncover gaps in their health strategies. The assessment helps quantify the financial opportunity lost when risk factors affecting workforce health, engagement and productivity are not addressed.
