Ontario healthcare providers now able to access award-winning, multi-modality counselling program
TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell (TSX: MSI), a leading provider of digital mental health services in Canada, announced today that the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) has qualified the company as a Vendor of Record (VOR) for digital mental health and electronic cognitive behavioural therapy (eCBT) services.
A competitive and rigorous process was applied to qualify Morneau Shepell with a specific focus placed on solutions proven to empower and support people to manage their mental health problems, provide timely access-to-care, reduce mental health-related stigma, increase willingness to seek help for mental health issues and improve quality of life.
The VOR arrangement features four solution providers. It can be accessed through OTN's Innovation Centre at https://otn.ca/innovationcentre/mood-anxiety. The VOR arrangement is accessible to all of Ontario's Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) and the health and community care providers within these LHINs. It will enable these organizations to more easily acquire and deploy Morneau Shepell's digital mental health solution because the requirement for an open competitive procurement has been satisfied, significantly reducing the length of the procurement process.
Morneau Shepell's multi-modality counselling system, which focuses on prevention and early intervention, includes a range of digital mental health support services. Ontario health and community care providers will have access to:
- My Migo®, an eCBT mobile application platform;
- First Chat, a real-time text message service with Morneau Shepell counsellors;
- Video counselling;
- Online group counselling;
- E-counselling through email;
- Telephonic counselling; and
- Online self-directed services and digital resources.
"This VOR with OTN is a positive step forward in the effort to improve the lives of those within our communities by providing easily accessible mental health solutions," said Stephen Liptrap, president and chief executive officer, Morneau Shepell. "We are proud to work with OTN and its extensive healthcare network. We are dedicated to maintaining a long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationship with OTN to ensure the Ontarians using our services are receiving the best care possible."
All services offered through the multi-modality counselling system are confidential and all discussions that occur online are contained on secure platforms. Morneau Shepell provides its counselling services in more than 150 languages, supported by its national network of clinicians and call access centres.
"OTN is committed to improving access to virtual care solutions that can truly make a difference to patients and the healthcare system," said Dr. Ed Brown, CEO, OTN. "The solutions available through this VOR arrangement, including the excellent solution provided by Morneau Shepell, will help empower Ontarians in need to gain more control of their symptoms of anxiety and depression, and particularly support those challenged by geography and wait lists for treatment."
Morneau Shepell has been a leading provider of resolution-focused counselling for nearly 40 years. The company supports more than 20 million people worldwide through its eCBT, disability support, employee and family assistance program and student support program services.
