Morneau Shepell unveils new Children's Support Solutions clinic in Toronto

Helping children and youth of all abilities to reach their full potential through accessible and trusted professional expertise

TORONTO, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, Morneau Shepell's Children's Support Solutions is officially unveiling its new Toronto clinic, which provides a wide range of support for children and youth of all abilities. Children's Support Solutions help children with variety of challenges, including those with diagnosable conditions such as developmental delays, speech-language impairment, learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and mood disorders.

The clinic's professionals are trained and certified in a wide range of disciplines including psychology, speech-language pathology, behaviour therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and special education. The onsite professionals often work with colleagues across disciplines to create customized support for the unique needs of each child. Children achieve better results, faster, with Morneau Shepell's integrated team of experts and its client and family-centred approach.

The new Toronto clinic has more than 40 therapists on staff and is the only Children's Support Solutions location in Canada that offers a pre-school among its wide spectrum of services.

According to the Government of Ontario, Autism Spectrum Disorder affects approximately 1 in 150 children and is four times more frequent in boys than in girls. Among these children is five-year-old Braeden*, who was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Doctors identified a number of areas in which Braeden experienced difficulties including self-regulation, expressive language, attention and focus, social interaction and academic delays. Braeden's family was told at one point that Braeden would not be able to talk, but now he is speaking regularly as a result of occupational, speech and behaviour therapy as well as through participation in pre-school at Morneau Shepell's Children's Support Solutions.
