Company honoured by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for its Fitness Coach Connects program
TORONTO, April 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell (TSX: MSI), Canada's leading provider of employee and family assistance programs, has been honoured with the "Innovative Practices Award" by the COA for its Fitness Coach Connects program.
The program was recognized for combining physical activity, coaching and digital tools to support optimal employee health and productivity. The Innovative Practices Award is presented by the COA to organizations that demonstrate the application of new and forward-looking practices.

Morneau Shepell's Fitness Coach Connects consists of an online program, a wireless activity tracker (digital pedometer), and three scheduled sessions with a fitness coach. Fitness Coach Connects combines monitoring, 24/7 online support and real-time feedback to help users meet their fitness goals.
A 2014 research report on Fitness Coach Connects showed that 49 per cent of participants entered into the program for weight loss and 34 per cent wanted to get fit. Participants lost an average of three kilograms, improved their exercise habits by 95 per cent, recorded 29 per cent more sleep and saw their energy levels boosted by 50 per cent. The fitness coaching received during the program was reported to be a key motivator for people, with 94 per cent saying they benefited from coaching.
