Morriston Bypass Coalition Applauds Ontario Government's Funding Commitment to Critical Highway Infrastructure Project
TORONTO, March 29, 2015 /CNW/ - The Morriston Bypass Business and Economic Development Coalition applauds the Government of Ontario's decision to invest in the Region's infrastructure and begin construction of the Highway 6 Morriston Bypass.
"We would like to express our gratitude to Premier Kathleen Wynne, Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca and their Cabinet colleagues for having the vision and commitment to moving this critical project forward," said Rory McAlpine, Coalition member and Senior Vice President, Government and Industry Relations, Maple Leaf Foods. "The Morriston bypass will provide tremendous benefits for commercial growth and opportunity in the region. We anticipate the annual value of commuter and commercial time saved during peak periods with the proposed bypass could be valued at more than $30M. It's a huge draw for investment, U.S.-bound export shipments and good jobs in the region."
"This is wonderful news for our Township and community," said Dennis Lever, Mayor of Puslinch Township. "Not only will it provide significant economic opportunities, the bypass will ease the traffic burden on our residents and give them better peace of mind."
"The Coalition would like to pay special recognition to Ted Arnott, MPP Wellington-Halton Hills, for his tireless leadership and advocacy for the project," added McAlpine. "We look forward to working closely with the Provincial and local governments throughout the design and construction process to establish a safe transportation route for businesses and residents."
