Mortgage Students Gain Access To Flexibile Learning Format
Mortgage Educator REMIC Makes It Easier For Students By Offering Industry Textbook In Audiobook Format
TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - When students of the Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada Inc. (REMIC) Mortgage Agent Course (RMAC), used for licensing of mortgage agents in Ontario, started asking for an audio version of the textbook, author Joe White decided that creating a mortgage agent course audiobook would be a great idea, especially since he was just finishing the seventh edition textbook for 2013. Little did he know what was involved in the undertaking, especially when he decided to do the reading himself.
"I thought it would be a nice touch having it read by the author", Mr. White said. " What I didn't expect was that recording the mortgage agent course audiobook would be so much fun, with a bit of frustration thrown in for good measure". Production of the over 12 hours of audio for the audiobook took several weeks, and a few retakes. "I have a newfound respect for narrators," said Mr. White. Overall, he says it was a very rewarding experience. "I really enjoyed it, and hope that our students get value out of it", he added.
Since many students are changing industries or making a career change and taking the course while working, it makes a great deal of sense to listen to the audio version of the textbook while in transit to their current job. In fact, the number of requests over the past year for a mortgage agent course audiobook has steadily risen.
REMIC has taught several thousand students in the past two years alone. In assisting students who wish to make a career change, and by adding the mortgage agent course audiobook to its list of resources, REMIC Director of Education and Training, Cain Daniel believes that the company is filling a major need. "This can be a very rewarding career", said Mr. Daniel, "both financially and personally. Helping Canadians fulfill their dream of home ownership and financial freedom is very fulfilling", he added.
By offering the mortgage agent course for licensing purposes in class, online and now adding the mortgage agent course audiobook, Mr. White feels that REMIC has all of the options that a student could possibly want, all under one roof. "Actually several roofs", adds Mr. White, "because we offer our in class courses in the GTA, Mississauga and other locations as preferred by our students. That's what choice is all about", he said. REMIC students couldn't agree more!
REMIC was founded in 2008 and is considered a leading authority on education, licensing and training in the mortgage broker industry. The organization offers various resources for mortgage brokers, including live events and online resources at www.remic.ca
