MOTHER MOTHER TEAM UP WITH RE*GENERATION FOR BENEFIT SHOW IN TORONTO
• Concert at Lee's Palace on October 27 to raise much-needed cash to help local homeless and at-risk youth
TORONTO, Oct 7 /CNW/ - Virgin Mobile today announced that Mother Mother will play a benefit concert at Toronto's Lee's Palace on October 27. All proceeds from the benefit concert will go straight to Virgin Unite's RE*Generation, a passionate movement to end youth homelessness and get at-risk youth off the street and on the road to a brighter future.
"We're on a mission to end youth homelessness in Canada and that starts with creating awareness about the issue and raising desperately needed funds with events like this," says Nathan Rosenberg, Chief Marketing Officer, Virgin Mobile Canada. "With killer artists like Mother Mother we're aiming to shine a light on the problem and bring the number of homeless youth in Canada from 65,000 to zero - but we need your help! Come out to our latest RE*Generation benefit show, text to donate or volunteer at local charities to do your part to put an end to youth homelessness."
Vancouver's Mother Mother have generated big time buzz with their original approach to modern pop/rock music; a beautifully bent portrait of vocal harmony, clever, offbeat lyricism and dynamic instrumentation. Their sound comes to life on their sophomore album, O My Heart, produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers). Since its release Mother Mother have brought their critically acclaimed live performance all over North America and the UK with successful and often sold out headlining tours, while also tearing it up on the festival scene, sharing the stage with the likes of Weezer, Sam Roberts, Pearl Jam, Bad Religion, Rise Against, The Decemberists, Our Lady Peace, Tokyo Police Club and many others. This upcoming show marks their first live appearance in Toronto since their two Massey Hall performances with Canadian rock institution Matthew Good last fall.
"The RE*Generation Movement that Virgin Mobile and Virgin Unite have created is an amazing cause that we're incredibly proud to support," says Mother Mother's Ryan Guldemond. "I think it's important to give back to our community and do what we can to make a difference. I hope that all of our fans will come out to support an important cause!"
Tickets for the Mother Mother show on October 27, 2010 are $20 plus service charges and taxes and will be available through www.ticketweb.ca starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010. Doors for the show open at 8 p.m.
