Mother of three boys cleans up Canada One home at a time, and wins
prestigious Profit Prize
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 27 /CNW/ - There have certainly been easier small business start ups than Trish Ronan's. Trish and her three young boys were forced to leave their comfortable life - and her husband - behind in Australia and come back to Canada to obtain specialized medical treatment for her toddler Jack. Suddenly a single mother for the next four years while her husband fulfilled his employment contract Down Under, she purchased a home, raised the boys who were aged one to six and started a small business selling European-made "green" cleaning products.
"When faced with a problem, find a solution," says Trish, president and co-owner of ENJO Canada, named # 5 Growth Company in 2010 by Profit magazine. "Circumstances were such that I had to work. I needed to work in an environment that enabled me to meet all demands that my son Jack's care required and based on my experience in corporate Canada, no job like that existed." ENJO was the solution. Trish had used the product in Australia and loved it. She bought the Canadian rights, moved the boys to Toronto, and got selling.
ENJO products clean and sanitize your home without chemicals and without a lot of elbow grease. And the Mississauga based ENJO places a value on family and health, which turned out to be a perfect fit for the Ronan family. In its five-year history, ENJO Canada has become the fastest-growing region in the world, teaching hundreds of mothers (and a few fathers) what it takes to start their own home-based businesses representing ENJO products and teaching their customers about a safer, better way to clean their homes.
Mothers don't punch a time clock or worry about having to stay home if their child is sick. They never miss a doctor's appointment or a play date. Like Trish herself, the most successful ENJO mothers have turned challenges into opportunities.
Due to her commitment to family, health and creating a successful enterprise, this year Trish has named # 61 of Canada's Top 100 Women Entrepreneurs by Profit magazine. What's next? For Trish the goal is to ensure that parent's across the country can control their future and work in an environment that rewards achievement, not punching a time clock.
Oh, and her husband Doug? He's back in Canada, working full-time with Trish as the company's resident computer systems genius.
