"Our performance, which is among the highest achieved by a hospital in Quebec, confirms that MSH and its long-standing culture of excellence are part of what's going right in Quebec's healthcare network" - Michel Amar, Executive Director
MONTREAL, Jan. 10, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Mount Sinai Hospital Montreal (MSH) is pleased to announce that it successfully complied with 770 out of 772, or 99.7%, of Accreditation Canada's evaluation criteria applicable to it, and achieved the designation of "Accredited with Exemplary Standing" following a comprehensive, rigorous investigation of its performance against national standards of excellence. Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that assesses the quality of Canadian healthcare organizations' practices and services. This type of evaluation by an independent third party is mandatory under Quebec law.
"Mount Sinai Hospital Montreal is extremely proud to have obtained its highest rating in history and also one of top rankings among all hospitals in the province of Quebec," said Michel Amar, Executive Director, MSH. "This accomplishment eloquently attests to the high quality and safety of the services provided to our patients. It also reflects the ongoing efforts made by all hospital staff and volunteers to maintain top-of-the-line standards and to remain a centre for excellence in respiratory care and a leading reference in palliative care in Quebec."
Among the elements identified by the surveyors as particularly worthy of mention are patient and staff safety at MSH, initiatives to enhance the flow of respiratory care patients, as well as various exemplary practices by MSH's interdisciplinary palliative care team. Innovative programs such as the "Magic Moments," "Sunny-Side-Up Breakfast," tai-chi and bereavement programs were also emphasized. Eight quality dimensions were assessed by Accreditation Canada surveyors, including collaboration with communities, accessibility of services, safety, work environment, client-centered services, continuity of services, effectiveness and resource efficiency.
