Movember House launches new HQ, community space and barbershop in downtown Toronto

TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - This evening, The Movember Canada Foundation will host the Mo Community at the official launch party of its new Toronto location. Co-Founders Adam and Trav Garone, Movember Committee Members, Mo Bros and Sistas, Donors and partners will come together to celebrate the opening of the new office and barbershop, as well as kick-off the 2016 Movember Campaign.

Located in downtown Toronto, the office will serve as a space for the community to hold events, hang out in the space or sit down in the Movember & Co. barbershop for a good ol' fashioned cut and shave. With its location in the heart of downtown Toronto, the new office encourages Torontonians to engage with the Foundation in activations such as the XBox Lounge, barbershop, and patio space, the goal being to promote community engagement and social connectivity. The event will also debut the exclusive Movember clothing collection, available for purchase at the house and with all proceeds going back to the Foundation.

"One of the reasons I'm so passionate about the barbershop and The Movember House, is because it's a touch point for the community," says Adam Garone, co-founder and Chief Mo Bro. "It's a tangible way for people to access Movember and learn more about the amazing men's health programs we fund."

The Movember & Co. Barbershop will be a fully operational business and will feature  Canadian barbers who support the organization. It will also serve as a retail space for Movember's partners, with proceeds from sales going to the Foundation. Additionally, a program will be developed for all Movember & Co. barbers to provide awareness and messaging on Movember's key pillars, including mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

"At the end of the day, our goal as an organization is to stop men dying too young," says Garone. "The best way to do that is to talk and engage in conversation when times get tough. That's what we hope the Movember House will help to do – bring the community together to connect with each other."
