Government of Canada commends Target Canada for providing service men and women with meaningful employment
OTTAWA, Nov. 7, 2014 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Orléans, today at a roundtable organized by Target Canada, reinforced the Government of Canada's commitment to helping Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces personnel find meaningful employment once their time in uniform is complete.
At the roundtable, Target Canada highlighted the company's dedication to providing Veterans with career opportunities through Canada Company's Military Employment Transition Program. MP Galipeau had the opportunity to hear firsthand from Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces personnel who have successfully started new careers at Target Canada thanks to the employment program.

- The Government of Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces are working together to maximize private sector opportunities for transitioning military personnel and Veterans. Through the Government of Canada's Hire a Veteran initiative, and Canada Company's Military Employment Transition Program, more than 200 private sector employers have committed to hiring Veterans.
- Canada Company is a charitable, non-partisan organization that serves to build the bridge between business and community leaders and the Canadian Military. Its goal is to ensure that the men and women in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) receive the widest support, care and recognition that they deserve.
- The Canada Company Military Employment Transition (MET) Program is an initiative developed to assist Canadian Armed Forces members, reservists and Veterans who are seeking to find jobs in the civilian workforce. The program serves as a bridge between the CAF and Canada Company's "Military Friendly Employer Partners."
