MTLàTABLE 2018 drew more than 100,000 local and visiting foodies, generating $7M for participating restaurants Français
MONTRÉAL, Dec. 13, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Tourisme Montréal is reporting outstanding attendance numbers for MTLàTABLE 2018. Nearly 120,000 people came out to enjoy a meal at participating restaurants throughout the city, generating more than $7 million for local businesses. This is a 22.6% improvement over 2016, when participation rates were comparable to 2018 (150 participating restaurants).
MTLàTABLE, an event presented by Aeroplan, gave local and visiting foodies a chance to taste Montréal cuisine and discover the city's internationally acclaimed culinary creativity. In addition to showcasing products grown in the Montréal area and across Québec, the seventh edition of MTLàTABLE cast the spotlight on local chefs. At least 70% of restaurant-goers tried more than two restaurants and 42% were first-time participants.
"Aeroplan is delighted to have been the presenting sponsor of MTLàTABLE once again, this time for its seventh edition. Food is a central part of any travel experience. We worked closely with Tourisme Montréal and some of the best restaurants in the city to secure priority booking for Aeroplan members and special benefits at key restaurants. Our members truly appreciated these perks!" said Chris Willoughby, General Manager, Marketing, Aeroplan.
Montréal's restaurant week is a Tourisme Montréal initiative that aims to familiarize the public with locally grown food and showcase the originality and diversity of Montréal fare. The event also entices patrons into restaurants during the month of November by offering fixed-price set menus. For locals and visitors, it's a chance to explore the flavours of Montréal's dynamic food scene.
MTLàTABLE is presented by Aeroplan and also made possible thanks to the support of valued partners like the Québec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Swiss International Air Lines, the SAQ, Cacao Barry, ESKA and Association Restauration Québec.
