MONTRÉAL, Aug. 27, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - MtlLINK Multimodal Solutions Inc., a provider of value-added port logistics, held an inauguration ceremony this afternoon for its fully renovated terminal in Montréal-Est.
"Our focus is to provide the cargo-handling skills required to help customers, shippers, and partners achieve fluidity in their supply chain. We have invested nearly $12 million in developing our terminal, and MtlLINK is strategically positioned to help support regional growth in the container sector and to bridge maritime transport with on-the-ground distribution," said Madeleine Paquin, President and CEO of Logistec Corporation. "This terminal is an important part of Logistec's North American network, and a strategic fit with the CargoM vision of developing Montréal as a logistics hub."
New paving throughout the terminal provides additional laydown area, and will allow MtlLINK to handle larger shipments and a more diversified cargo base. The terminal is already handling a variety of project cargo, including out-of-gauge pieces, in addition to bulk and general cargo such as steel, forest products, granite, and concentrates.
The facility also has a wider selection of specialised equipment at its disposal. This includes reach stackers, heavy forklifts with lifting capacity of 30 tonnes, conveyors, a container tipper, tailor-made handling tools, and a wide variety of standard forklifts.
MtlLINK also provides a state-of-the-art online inventory management system, and opened its paper-grade warehouse earlier this year. It has four doors with direct access to rail, five docks to accommodate trucks of any size, and two ground-level oversized doors. The terminal's rail spur, located along the warehouse, has two tracks and a total of 3,600 feet of available length.
"The team at MtlLINK has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to performance and customer service, and many of them have been with us since the terminal opened," added Ms. Paquin. "They have been working diligently to modernize and expand this bustling terminal."
