WINNIPEG, April 22 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream is pleased to announce that, in addition to celebrating the largest, environmental event worldwide today, it has been promoting environmental awareness throughout the week by challenging employees to find new ways to think 'green'.
Learning sessions with environmental experts were held over lunch hour each day this week and offered discussions on topics such as green cleaning, organic lawn care and the various recycling programs offered at MTS Allstream.
"Throughout the company, our people are taking action to preserve and enhance the environment," said Aliana Rozenek, Chief Human Resources Officer, MTS Allstream. "We offered these sessions as a way to further the discussion with our employees about how each and every one of us can make a difference when it comes to lessening our environmental impact."
In addition, MTS has gathered together a group of environmentally-concerned employees to form what is known as the MTS Allstream Green Team. The Green Team provides feedback on the company's Green Plan and discusses environmental issues that concern employees at work, as well as at home. They are involved in promoting Green activities such as today's Earth Day. In previous years, MTS Allstream has celebrated Earth Day by expanding its recycling program, setting up a cell phone recycling contest and encouraging employees to find eco-friendly ways to work.
MTS Allstream is continually working to improve its environmental performance and offers advanced technologies such as its virtual workplace solutions that give people more flexibility in where and how they work and offers the best-in-class collaboration and social networking applications, mobility capabilities, network infrastructure, and security to support a wide range of flexible work environments. Another program which aims to lower the number of employees commuting to work is "The Ride Exchange" program, which was launched in 2008. This is a company-wide initiative that gives employees the opportunity to make arrangements to carpool to work with their co-workers as a way to reduce their impact on the environment with a greener choice for transportation.
