WINNIPEG, March 26 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream is pleased to support Earth Hour 2010, joining Canadians from coast to coast by turning out the lights at its 24 major facilities and offices across Canada for 60 minutes on Saturday March 27, 2010.
"MTS Allstream works hard to reduce its impact on the environment, and helping our customers and stakeholders do the same," said Helen Reeves, Chief Communications Officer, MTS Allstream. "Our employees take steps every day to make a difference in this regard, and we are pleased to take part as a company in Earth Hour 2010 and show our support for efforts to combat climate change."
MTS Allstream participates in ongoing initiatives and projects to meet its environmental commitment, many of which are reflected in the Company's Green Plan. Constructing and upgrading office buildings to be more energy efficient, introducing a no-idling policy for fleet vehicles, and implementing comprehensive office recycling programs are just some of the ways that MTS Allstream is taking action.
MTS Allstream is also committed to helping its customers make positive differences for the environment. Recycling is available for Cell phones, batteries, chargers, and headsets at all MTS Connect(TM) stores in Manitoba. E-billing initiatives are reducing the use of paper, and the Workplace 2.0 tele-working program is being used by MTS Allstream customers and employees to telecommute and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
These efforts have been recognized by others. MTS Allstream has been a member of the Jantzi Sustainability Index for nine years and is the first ever recipient of Resource Conservation Manitoba's Commuter Friendly Workplace Award.
