STONEWALL, MB, April 25, 2013 /CNW/ - MTS announced today that Stonewall will join a growing list of rural Manitoba communities that have access to industry-leading telecommunications and entertainment services courtesy of the MTS FiON® Network. MTS crews will begin deploying the MTS FiON Network in Stonewall this summer, with plans to launch new services later this year.
"MTS is proud to bring state-of-the-art technology to more Manitobans," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. "With the launch of our fibre optic network later this year, Stonewall residents will be able to enjoy MTS Ultimate TV and super-fast high-speed Internet services."
"We're very excited that Stonewall residents will have access to world-class technology," said Stonewall Mayor Ross Thompson. "People are already talking about MTS Ultimate TV and the convenience of combining their home phone, TV and Internet services on one account. Personally, I'm especially excited because CJNU - the voice of nostalgia radio in the Capital Region - will be available locally on TV channel 725, as it is now in Winnipeg."
MTS Ultimate TV features over 120 HD channels and a wide variety of informative and entertaining apps. With MTS's Whole Home PVR, viewers can also pause and rewind live TV on any connected television in their house. MTS's newest and fastest high-speed Internet plans offer unlimited usage and are exclusively available in communities where MTS has launched its fibre optic network. By bundling MTS Ultimate TV and MTS high-speed Internet services with home phone and wireless services, MTS customers can save over $40 a month.
This expansion to Stonewall is part of a multi-year program to deploy MTS's fibre-to-the-home network to over 20 communities in Manitoba. MTS launched the MTS FiON Network in 2010 and has since covered over 25,000 homes in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, The Pas, Neepawa, Carberry, Minnedosa, Killarney, and in select areas of Winnipeg and Brandon.
