MTS brings leading-edge technology to Killarney, Manitoba

KILLARNEY, MB, Dec. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - MTS is now offering residents of Killarney state-of-the-art telecommunications and entertainment services courtesy of its fibre optic network, the MTS FiON® Network. Killarney residents now have access to very high-speed Internet services and MTS's innovative television service, MTS Ultimate TV.
MTS Ultimate TV features over 420 channels, a wide variety of informative and entertaining apps, and access to Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View events. Subscribers will also be able to pause and rewind live TV from any room in the house with the Whole Home PVR.
"MTS is proud to bring this world-class technology to Killarney," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. "With its many features and over 120 HD channels - including 13 added just last week - MTS Ultimate TV offers one of the richest viewing experiences in the market today."
The MTS FiON Network also powers MTS's newest and fastest high-speed Internet plans which offer unlimited usage and are exclusively available in communities where MTS has launched its fibre optic network. Killarney is now one of nine communities in Manitoba that has access to download speeds of up to 250 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 30 Mbps.
Today Killarney Mayor Rick Pauls and MTS President Kelvin Shepherd joined dozens of Killarney residents at the Broadway Avenue MTS Connect Store to celebrate the launch of the new network.
"We appreciate the substantial investment MTS has made in our community," said Mayor Rick Pauls. "With the introduction of this new fibre optic network, Killarney residents have access to some of the most advanced telecommunications services available today."
As part of the today's celebrations in the community, a Killarney resident won a 40-inch LED HD Toshiba TV plus six months of free MTS Ultimate TV service.
MTS is investing $125 million over several years to deploy its fibre-to-the-home network to 120,000 homes in Manitoba. Since 2010, MTS has launched the MTS FiON Network in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, The Pas, Neepawa, Carberry, Minnedosa, Killarney, and select areas of Winnipeg.
